    QuberTech seeks a forward-thinking, hands-on Head of Genomics to drive our experimental work in the genetic modification of dandelion varieties. The successful candidate will direct the molecular and plant strategy for transgenic/non transgenic line creation and CRISPR editing, and lead a team of scientists to develop proprietary, high yielding, rubber-producing varieties of dandelion. This is an opportunity to innovate at the cutting edge of plant biotechnology within a fast-paced startup environment.

    Job Location: Norwich Research Park

    Contract:  Full time

    What you’ll do

    • Design, execute, and analyse experiments for targeted genetic modification of dandelion.

     

    • Develop and implement molecular biology strategies for transgenic and non-transgenic CRISPR editing to generate high-yielding rubber-producing plants.

     

    • Establish and manage the company’s gene discovery capabilities.

     

    • Develop and scale the company’s bioassays.

    • Own and manage our improved dandelion variety event production team and process.

    • Lead and mentor your cross-function team, setting project goals and fostering a collaborative, high-achieving culture.

    • Support the development of intellectual property by maintaining working knowledge of IP and patent-related issues in plant biotechnology.
       

    • Communicate results, progress, and challenges clearly to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.

    What you’ll bring

    • PhD or equivalent experience in Molecular biology, Plant Science, Plant Physiology or related field.

     

    • Proven experience as a manager, with excellent leadership skills and a strong track record of delivering results.

     

    • Proven experience in production of genetically modified plants, including precise genome engineering using CRISPR etc.

     

    • Experience establishing and driving bioassays and gene discovery.

     

    • Able to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams, contributing deep technical knowledge.

     

    • Highly organised, solution-oriented, and detail-focused in a fast-paced startup environment.
