Lab Work
  • QuberTech is at the forefront of innovative biotechnology, engineering next generation dandelion varieties to sustainably produce high quality natural rubber and high value bioproducts such as inulin. We are expanding our R&D team and are seeking an experienced Plant Molecular Biology Scientist to provide critical support to our genomics team in developing improved dandelion varieties.

     

    As a Plant Molecular Biology Scientist, you will join our Plant Molecular Biology team and work closely with the other teams. You will design and manage molecular biology strategies for genome editing, lead and manage a small team, ensure the timely generation of modified events, and continuously improve and test new cutting edge approaches.

     

    If you have a PhD in a relevant scientific field, demonstrated management experience, and strong industry and laboratory experience, this role is the perfect opportunity to continue your biotech career in a dynamic startup environment that values learning, teamwork, and innovation.

     

    Job Location: Norwich Research Park, UK

    Contract: Full time, with an initial contract for 2 years

    What you’ll do

    • You will manage a small team of scientists, ensuring they have clear goals, milestones, and regular reporting of results.

    • Your team will deliver a pipeline from gene discovery, cloning and transformation of dandelion germplasm to regenerate plants for testing.

    • You will develop a robust pipeline for event production, ready for testing both in laboratory assays and in real greenhouse environments.

    • Maintain laboratory equipment, prepare media and reagents, and uphold high safety and quality standards. 

    • Collect, record, and organise experimental data meticulously.

    • Facilitate communication and coordination between scientific teams to ensure smooth research operations.

    What you’ll bring

    • Good energy and a can-do approach.

    • PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.

    • Practical lab experience gained through previous industry roles.

    • Advance knowledge of plant science techniques, molecular biology, and biochemical assays is highly

    • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to develop high quality protocols.

    • Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn from and collaborate with expert scientists.

We are expanding our innovative R&D team and seeking a versatile Research Technician to provide critical support across our core science functions.

     

    As a Research Technician, you will work closely with our Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, and Extraction & Analytical Scientists. Your role will be essential in helping these teams run complex experiments, maintain containment growth facilities, prepare biological and chemical samples, and support extraction and analysis workflows.

     

    If you have a BSc or MSc in a relevant scientific field and have demonstrated laboratory experience, this entry level role is the perfect opportunity to launch or continue your biotech career in a dynamic start-up environment that values learning, teamwork, and innovation.

     

    Job Location: Norwich Research Park

    Contract: Full time, with an initial contract for 12 months

    Closing date: 15th April 2026

    What you’ll do

    • Assist with plant tissue culture, phenotyping, and containment facility operations (including hydroponics
      and aeroponics systems)

    • Support our cloning, plant genetic modification, and other molecular biology workflows

    • Work with sample processing, preparation of reagents, and routine laboratory analyses of rubber and
      inulin

    • Maintain laboratory equipment, prepare media and reagents, and uphold safety and quality standards

    • Collect, record, and organize experimental data meticulously

    • Facilitate communication and coordination between scientific teams to ensure smooth research
      operations

    What you’ll bring

    • BSc/MSc in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline

    • Practical lab experience gained through internships, academic projects, or previous roles

    • Basic knowledge of plant science techniques, molecular biology, and biochemical assays is highly desirable

    • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow protocols

    • Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn from and collaborate with expert scientists

    • A proactive and flexible mindset suited to the fast-moving startup environment

    What you’ll do

    • Manage core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, and staff records. 

    • Support leadership with scheduling, communications, and day-to-day administration. 

    • Oversee payroll, annual leave, and employee benefits. 

    • Liaise with the external accountant and ensure accurate financial records. 

    • Develop and maintain HR policies, training plans, and company handbook materials. 

    • Coordinate team training, performance reviews, and staff development initiatives. 

    • Implement and improve HR systems and internal processes as the company grows. 

    • Act as a trusted point of contact for employee queries and company communications. 

    What you’ll bring

    • Proven experience in a generalist HR role covering recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration in a small or growing company.​ 

    • Hands-on experience administering payroll and employee benefits, ideally in collaboration with an external accountant or payroll provider.​ 

    • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with the judgement to know when to escalate or seek external advice.​ 

    • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and keep confidential information secure.​ 

    • Confident user of HR and office productivity software (e.g. HRIS, Office 365/Google Workspace), and comfortable setting up or improving simple systems and processes.​ 

    • Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of the company.​ 

    • A proactive, “no task too small” mindset and willingness to support senior management with a wide range of operational and administrative tasks as the business scales.
